5 Days Murchison & Sipi Falls Tour
Not only does this trip lead you to Uganda’s highest waterfall Sipi, but it also treats you to the wonders of Uganda’s biggest National Park. Murchison is its name, a Big 4 destination with a thunderous waterfall that is created as River Nile squeezes itself through a 7 meter wide opening in a rock. Beyond that, you will visit a farm to have an agro-tourism experience that showcases A-Z about one of Africa’s best exports, Arabica coffee. It is highland coffee with a rich satisfying taste that volcanic soils offer.
Day 1: Drive to Sipi Falls, Uganda’s highest waterfall (100meters).
After an early breakfast in Kampala, you will set off for a six-hour road trip to the foothills of Elgon, Uganda’s second-highest mountain (4,300 m above sea level). Found along Uganda’s border with Kenya in Eastern Uganda, it is home to Sipi falls, a scenic waterfall that has been flowing non-stop for over 300 years now. The journey from Kampala to here is a photographer’s dream due to the constantly changing scenery. Ready your camera for stunning pictures of tropical forests, sugar cane plantations, tea plantations, the world’s longest river, African village settings, and rolling mountain ranges.
On arrival at Sipi, you will spend the night at Noah’s Ark resort, a cozy getaway overlooking the majestic rift valley. If it is a sunny day, nature will treat you to an enchanting sunset that is unforgettable.
Day 2: Hike to the Water Falls & Coffee Experience
After your relaxed morning breakfast, you will start a three-hour sightseeing walk that is destined to different vantage points from which you can behold the three waterfalls that makeup Sipi. All of them are dramatic and have easily accessible via trails that meander through banana plantations. All through, you will be escorted by a guide who knows the best routes for travelers who want tough climbing challenges, and those who prefer a relaxed bushwalk. At the foot of all the three waterfalls, you will find and explore ancient caves that used to shelter early man during the Stone Age. Thanks to the Bilharzia free state of the waterfalls, the ponds at their foot offer a cool swimming experience that effortlessly relaxes the mind. You can’t miss it!
This will be followed by a lunch break after which you will head out for a coffee tour in one of the nearby farms. It is a farm to cup experience which starts at the plantations and ends with a sampling/cupping experience at the home of the localhost. By the end of this tour, you will have learned how coffee is planted, how locals terrace gardens to control erosion, how the harvest is done, and best of all, you will experience the traditional way it is roasted and grounded ahead of consumption. It is such an enriched experience, and the best part of the story is that your money will go to disadvantaged locals who need it the most. There are several programs that are purposed to ensure that the community benefits from the coffee tour. For instance, financial proceeds from coffee sales to tourists go-to widows.
Day 3: Drive to Murchison Falls Park
After a relaxed breakfast, start your trip to Murchison Falls National Park with en-route lunch in Lira town before continuing with the journey as you view the green flat landscape.

Murchison Falls Park is home to 76 mammal species including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, leopards, hippos, chimpanzees, giraffes, Uganda kobs and antelopes among others. At the shores of river Nile’s stretch in here, you will find a rich concentration of hippos, crocodiles, and highly sought after birds like the shoebill stork, a prehistoric species.
Day 4: Game Drive & Afternoon Boat cruise on the Nile

You will be able to spot a lot of African wildlife such as; elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, different species of antelope, and many tropical birds. Drive back to the hotel for lunch as you prepare for the boat safari to the waterfall at 2 pm. You will have an optional 45 minutes hike to the top of the falls. This is an experience that brings all the senses into play: watch waves of white water tumble hypnotically through this six-meter chasm, listen to the roar, taste the spray on your face, and feel the rock shake beneath your feet. Don’t dare miss this!!
Day 5: Visit Chimpanzees and transfer to Kampala
Today you will have your early breakfast at the lodge and prepare for your trip to the Chimpanzee walk in Budongo forest, Southern wing of Murchison Falls National Park.
